Fuck was it ever … too late in the year for such cold days, worked out well for making my chili though!! Blogged plenty in the past ’bout chili, blogging again!! I always do things slightly differently each time I make chili, so I’ll try to concentrate on those details, the differences!! The biggest change was using my meat grinder, taking a 1.5 kilo sirloin roast and making minced meat out of it!! You can really see the freshness of the beef, thrilled with the purchase … love my LEM!!

Here’s the chili after 6 hours (give or take), slowly simmering in my 12 quart 18/10 stainless steel Lagostina stock pot!! Looks deceiving, trust me there’s plenty here to fill at least 12 hungry bellies!! Near the end of the stewing process, a light bulb went off … and on a whim decided to toss in 5 heaping spoonfuls of frozen peaches and cream corn … thought it was ingenious, substituting it for hominy that I’ve previously used, but with bonuses: being cheaper, easier to include last minute, and adding great colour!! I did mention how ingenious it was, right? LOL!!

I lightly sprinkled ground chipotle chilies, adding a sweet&smoky flavour … another new change!! I always serve my chili on a bed of rice, this time was no different, ‘cept that the rice I used was a combination of at least 6 varieties that I combined in a container and slowly accumulated when each individual bag was almost empty. You can even see some wild rice too … oh, made it in my trusty Wolfgang Puck rice cooker … or ‘nicer’ cooker as ‘twinkle toes’ prefers calling it, lol!!

And here’s the bowls ready to be served, topped with fat free sour cream … love how the coolness of the cream balances and compliments the heat of the chili, you can see I added ‘fresh-shred-chedd‘ too, and served it with a crusty French loaf!! Doesn’t get any better motherfuckers!!

… and since ‘The Dirty (starving) Dozen’ never did show, all this was for Tiffany K. and yours truly, plus leftovers … and what they say about chili being better the next day? Yeah, fuck yeah!!

Asshole!! Whatever you did, running that temporary cable through the trees, fixing my neighbours problem, resulted in disrupting my service shithead!! No Internet, no cable!! High speed, or ultra-high speed (whatever the correct designation is) Internet too. Thanks motherfucker!! And after a call complaining, and given the earliest appointment (tomorrow afternoon … says you) what do expect me do tonight? Play with myself? Sorry … did that, all played out!! The only positive (as if ANYTHING is from this) is that I’m forced to post, to blog from my mobile!! First ever iPhone post y’all … hope there isn’t too much editing necessay when finally I do get my service back, lol!!

The whole ‘Little Italy’ experience … the atmosphere, ambience is what’s so fucking great!! Love the retro feel of the place, the off the beaten path tucked away and hidden in a residential neighbourhood feel too!! Is it the best pizza? Who knows? Btw, what does that even fucking mean … best pizza?  … too many great joints, and so many good pies to say!! Love going back in time and reminiscing!! These were a new item, a new product from President’s Choice … showcased in their latest Insider’s Report® … been trying to buy them since they came out, right from day 1!! They had placards in all Loblaws store I went to saying they were unavailable. That was at least two fucking months ago!! Still was eager about ‘buying and trying’ these so I resorted to calling PC’s 800# and finding out straight from the horse’s mouth what the fuck the deal was … took some effort, some prying, but the representative on the phone divulged that they in fact were offered in a few stores, but were immediately recalled citing freshness problems, and she had no idea if they ever will be offered. I couldn’t even find any indication of the product’s existence when checking their website, and the internet, hence the pic you see is one I scanned from my personal flyer, lol!!

This just came to me. Don’t mean recently, moments ago either … mean it just ‘popped’ into my brain inexplicably, out of the blue … the majority of it, the rest I completed!! Not too often things work like this, looking so tidy and precise!! Someone’s got mad love for 5 … lol!!

Bought this from Canadian Tire a few days back. I needed a new flashlight to replace my old one that I purchased from the same store a few years ago … least that one worked for the duration!! This one I charged after purchasing, turned it on … and nothing!! Chinese manufactured crap!! So yesterday, running around doing my Sunday errands, my joe jobs, went back to return it (not before I threw it on the ground and snapped this beauty, showing my feelings … and frustrations). Got my money back, but not my money wasting my electricity futilely charging it for 12 hours!! Believe me, if they would have said shit … I would have caused shit!!

Also went to the liquor store on Sunday to pick up some booze … said ‘some’ y’all, lol!! Paying for my purchase, I started chatting it up the cashier … it’s what I do, it’s what I am, I’m just a rock ‘n roll man … about the music playing, since I noticed it wasn’t regular radio station shit playing over their speakers as it had been in the past. He indicated to me that recently they were forced to stop, had to do with copyright infringements, essentially the LCBO was previously playing radio station music, without compensating them!! As I was beginning to leave, after finishing paying, he said this to me, brilliantly summarizing his thoughts … putting it into a nutshell!!

What ever happend to these guys? It’s as if they fell off the fucking planet!! God, I remember partying back in the 80’s, and always hearing at least a few of their songs throughout the night … maybe chicks dug them, their ballads, and that’s why too … whatever the reason, it seemed like mandatory music at these parties!! They weren’t a one hit wonder either, had a few popular songs … Rock in America, Sing Me Away, Sister Christian, Goodbye, Sentimental Street … used to hear these songs all the time. Don’t misunderstand me, they weren’t my cup of tea … Led Zep, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Rush, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest … shit like that was more to my liking, and I get that they were pop rock, but they weren’t bad … I think what I’m saying is there’s far worse shit from that era that still gets airplay, but not these fuckers!! Guess they had their run, times and tastes changed, and it ended … I dunno? Makes you (me, at least) wonder?!?!

Wrapped up some very important business on the phone with my new ‘bestest‘ bud, lol!! Thanks motherfucker (another thing: love it when I feel comfortable to use my ‘I’m gonna wash your mouth out with soap’ language with someone I don’t even fucking know, but … they get it … so refreshing) for all your help, and the firsthand experience insightful tricks of the trade (the bullshit chit-chat too, such a welcome break in the day). Seeing we had quite a lot in common, Tony said, “I’m 51, but don’t look it” asks my age and I respond “I’m 47 … but don’t act it”, lol!! We had a fun talk filled with plenty of laughs!! Hey man, like I told you, I’ll definitely search you out when I come by next week!! Tall guy with a goatee (tall guy trying to grow a goatee as you said, lol)!!

Still continues!! It’s been an obsession for many, many years now!! More of a passion, I mean I’m not fucking mental, lol. Guess it was that great burger at Allen’s on Sunday that’s got me inspired again … plus with warmer weather, week-end golfing with buddies days right around the corner, more eager and excited!! And I’m not talking about any Joe-Fucking-Blow-Burger either … I’m talking about ‘the classic burger’ with simple ingredients and toppings!! Cheese (Aged Cheddar, Emmenthal, Jarlsberg, and maybe Muenster being acceptable) lettuce, tomatoes, onions too … and perhaps bacon … nothing more!! Now, I’ve made my share of burgers with a variety of added topping … I make a killer poblano pepper onion relish for my Southwestern burger, I make a great Greek burger … Turkey burgers, and Salmon burgers too. When it comes to the classic, the burger you could possibly call the BEST ever, these don’t qualify, they can’t!! Lately, I’ve heard of some silly toppings … mango chutney?! WTF?! Zen danistrulytheman, zen, lol!! Plus, and this is important, so pay attention … it’s imperative NOT to overcook the meat drying it out, essentially taking away any chin dripping juiciness!! With this in mind, today I woke early, researched meat grinders online, secured an incredible deal locally, drove far out of my way (Markham) and bought this bad boy!! Now, I’ll be able to grind my own pieces of meat, taking the necessary precautions from a health perspective, allowing me to safely cook the meat as little as possible … rare, or medium-rare, that’s it, the way a perfect burger is intended to be cooked!! And I don’t mean steak tartare burger, but believe me, I will try this at least once in the future too!! Hey, you want bean sprouts and asparagus stalks on your well-done shoe leather burger … knock your socks off, lol!!

Where else, right, lol? Google search best burger Toronto, Allen’s always comes up at the top. I believe it’s the only place in Toronto asking you how you want your burger done. By that I mean, they will serve it rare, other restaurants … not a fucking chance!! We ordered 3 medium rare, and they arrived blood red … let me tell you, motherfucking incredible!! Also, well before other pubs hopped (get it?) on the specialty beer trend bandwagon, they had the best, most comprehensive and extensive beer list available (the pic I took is only a small portion of what they offer)!!

Seinfeld, remember? This is my BIG salad … enough to feed an (Greek) Army. Sometimes hard to visualize from photos I know, but trust me, it’s HUGE!! Tomatoes (heirloom), feta cheese (Dodonis) sweet onions, lettuce, oregano … sans olives this time for a change, olive oil too. Instead, drizzled Avocado Oil on the salad, it’s a new PC product from their ‘Insider’s Report’, the health benefits are purported and claimed to be incredible, not only for the heart, but the skin too!!

It’s my ‘let’s get naked and do it Greek style salad’. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, lol!!

Was gonna post about her long time ago, did a one-eighty … “fuck that shit”, bitch doesn’t deserve it, lol!! Of course she did, still does … only now I don’t know where to begin since my previous thoughts elude me, but I’ll try!! S.S. is a very special person to me, she was a GREAT friend … sometimes I question why considering things she said … here she is in her own words:

I know … not only did I put up with that shit, I kept coming back for more, lol!! Honestly, it wasn’t that bad … and if it was, I ain’t sayin’!! My recent out of the blue correspondence lead me to finally blog about her. She freely admitted looking on my site occasionally, but not spying (I prefer lurking, lol). See this is something I love about her, completely honest, and extremely trustworthy … fuck, I trust her more than people who are closer to me, some I trust only as far as I can spit on them. Anybody else would have purposely omitted saying that, or outright LIED about it … but not her!! That’s a quality to be highly admired!! Goddamn … if only trust was a warm, wet cunt, eh?!?! Oh, and btw S.S. you’re ALWAYS welcome to sneak a peek (it’s others I’m more concerned with, lol) … you can be my WordPress bitch any fucking day, lol!! I’m not going to drone on and on boring everyone, or gush too much about how wonderful she is … ‘specially now knowing she’s gonna read it, but I’ll tell a couple of stories …

Throughout our emails, she would constantly use British slang … and I know my share (not as much as her), I used to buy UK magazines (mostly car mags … side story: Tiffany K. was getting on my case for years to throw them fucking out as they sat piled up collecting dust, but I spent so much money on them, I had such a hard time … finally relented … sadly chucked the whole lot) so I knew plenty of terms. I also loved watching Fawlty Towers … oh, and that’s another thing, S.S. had EVERY fucking show from the BBC listed as likes on FB, but not this one?? What’s up with that shit? This one was the fucking best … loved Sybil calling out, “Basil, Basil”, lol. I remember one day, saying to myself, “she hasn’t said ‘arse’ yet, how long will it take?” TWO fucking days, LOL!! I was pissing when I read that. Eventually, would have asked her what’s with the Blimey Limey lingo? … I mean fuck … I ain’t no John Steed, and she’s ain’t no fucking Emma Peel!! … THEN, when the fun stopped, the Brit slang stopped … and THEN I realized how much I missed it!!

I was constantly on her ass, wanting pictures. Bitch never sent me shit for a long, long fucking time!! Close your eyes and imagine danistrulytheman on his knees pleading for pics … it was pretty much like that!! Finally she sent ONE … the one I’m posting … since, like I said … it’s the only ONE I have. But she sent it with this whole story, a long story … I kept thinking, just send the fucking pics, save those words for naughty stories, lol!! Actually, I was touched by her passionate tale and enthusiasm, that I researched about where the picture was taken, and its historical significance!!

I know what y’all are thinking, I think highly of her … so why aren’t we close friends any longer? Well, basically … she went cuckoo for cocoa puffs, lol [JOKING!!]!! Not sure of her take on us now, but without a hint of hesitation … I still consider her, and proudly refer to her, as ‘my friend’!!

Saturday April 2 marks the return of thoroughbred racing … opening day!! I have such great memories of Woodbine … seeing the Queen, the Queen Mum (I was standing on a level above her as she making her way to her private seating area, walking directly beneath me … very cool), The Breeder’s Cup in 1996, so many, many more memories too. Great horses as well … With Approval, Sky Classic, Dance Smartly, Play The King (my favourite), Afleet, Peteski, Izvestia, Awesome Again … and many more great horses too. There was a time when I never missed it, or many other days on the racing calendar for that matter. Now? Hardly ever go … but love it when I do. And, love watching the major races throughout the year on TV (the computer now too)!!

Woodbine has such a beautiful paddock!! Hands down the best in North America … bar none!! And that’s not a stretch … “and down the stretch they come”, lol!! I’ve got a GREAT picture on a warm and sunny autumn Rothman’s Day (unsure the year off the top of my head) standing in front of the paddock with Tiffany K. that I have framed … and would love to share it here with y’all, but also … would love to just wake-up tomorrow, lol!! Hey, can’t blame me for betting on ‘a sure thing‘, lol!!
