Not that July, or August weren’t filled with good runs – they were. Seems like in September, I kicked it up a notch, and was particularly good. I set five PRs during the month … all within a nineteen day span! Plenty chuffed with myself!
manly men eats … and, i ain’t joking! huge hunks of meat, chunks of fresh bread, that’s it. it’s fill yer plate, and feed yer face … miss manners would shit her britches! oh, and lots of booze. and, although i wasn’t allowed to leave hungry – my friend armtwistedinsisted i stay for eats, i was somehow (surprisingly) able to deflect countless gratis offers of all kinds of drinks from the guys … even brandy, yep, def manly manly, lol!
… at times I mean. Finding time, finding motivation! Didn’t have a chance to go for my run early this Saturday morning (as I prefer), and when I got back home after errands/appointments … I mentally struggled with missing a day, but I pushed myself, and still changed into my gear and hit the road … and STILL killed a 4K! But, throughout it all, didn’t feel strong, felt a bit weak in fact … and realized, it’s 1 o’clock in the afternoon, and all I’ve put in my belly today was coffee?! No nutrients, no protein, no nourishment … no wonder!! I was running on fumes … did I say I killed it?!
I tried all night not to break down and cry as the tears rolled down my face
I felt so cold and empty like a lost soul out of place
And the mirror mirror on the wall sees my smile it fades again
Friday morning 4K was a good run. Not crazy fast, but fast enough … but more importantly only 2 seconds separated all four kilometers. And since I ran my 4K run today, it also gave me a crack at my 1mile run … and yep, you guessed it – 6:30. Mister Consistency indeed!
Long Story! Here’s the short version: Trying to lend a helping hand to my friend, did him a solid today. Went to Hamilton on his business behalf! And while still early in the day, was done. Sweet! Hold yer Hamilton horses! Imagine my surprise when taking Barton E. exiting onto Red Hill Valley Pkwy expecting to take the ramp happily back home to my safe and sound Toronto, only to see it closed?! Bear in mind, at this point, traffic was at a dead-stop standstill. Looks like QEW Niagara here I come. Wait, luckily the Centennial Pkwy off-ramp that merges w/ RHVP Niagara bound was closed to traffic under the OPP‘s directive! We (anybody who didn’t want to keep driving to Niagara – I mean continuing being stuck in traffic) were permitted to swing our vehicles around, and drive up the exiting ramp in the WRONG direction. Anywhere you looked, all roads in sight weren’t moving! EVERYTHING, was a fucking mess (sorry; correction, this is Hamilton we’re talking about … MORE of a fucking mess, lol). Eventually, I got back onto Barton, and drove all the way through that shit part of the city, till I got my ass onto the 403 Toronto! For that unforgiving hour and a half, I was a held-against-my-will-hostage-Hamiltonian!
… garbage day, recycling day run. Something comforting, relaxing … mentally preparing myself for my morning run as I’m walking back and forth, taking all my bins, garbage to the curb. Was a great run, felt strong, missed my PR by under 50 seconds … check out my last few splits. Had my playlist on repeat song, and of course I don’t dare waste time trying to correct it … was flying w/ Linkin Park‘s Somewhere I Belong blaring in my ears for 36 minutes and 33 seconds for those 8K …
… LOL!! First words of his mouth when he saw me, after being away for the past year. Bal’s back in Canada now, but was in Dubai – he’s from that part of the world. It made me laugh, his choice of words. Yes, I lost weight, slimmed down, am looking good, am healthier. Thanks for noticing!
I’ve been saying to myself for quite some time now, “one day I’m gonna go for my run, and run a half marathon”. That day never came, never came close … 12K was as far as I got. Even then, I was going through it in my mind, and I knew 100 minutes would be around my time (well, the time I wanted to achieve), but I also felt, I’d probably miss it by just a bit … and I did … 101 minutes & 3 seconds. Typically, I’m a bat outta hell type of runner, running fast from the start, so when I near home (8K), I stop. Today, I reigned in my pace from the beginning, I knew this would be the only way I’d ever run a half marathon. And at the 50 minute mark – what I perceive as the half way point, my audio cue had me at 10.64K … so I was well ahead of a sub 100 minute pace … and I kept up that pace for 13K … but as you can see from my 14K – 21K splits, I started slipping … slowly, not much … and again, at least all those splits were consistent. And check out those calories burned – 2384!!!! WHOA!!
… sorry Stones, lol! Shoulda read Goat’s Leg Spaghetti … but who the hell’s ever heard of that shit, lol?! Made this a few days ago, I bought goat shanks (front leg) from my fave Indian meat purveyors … and treated it/made it osso buco style! Was awesome, so tender and surprisingly, mild tasting … did I just invent something?! Mangia mangia!
Another classic phone call where neither caller/callee wanted it to end (well, classic danistrulytheman phone call that is. I def have a knack for that). You did mention the time was approaching 1 hour … and no matter you speak French as a 1st language. I speak swearsies, lol! Thanks for a great phone-call, thanks for all your nine years on the job experience advice, and thanks for that $25 credit (pre-adjusted I might add – you didn’t have to do that, but I thank you)! Yep, gold’s def for girls as I adamantly & quickly responded when ya asked, but laughedMFAO (we both did – I could hear you, lol) when you said, “and, old men” …LOL!!
… not only foggy, humid. Was welcomed as well … too many cold morning runs lately. Felt so good stepping out the front door, and not feeling a chill. Happy Friday y’all!
I started trying for 1mile times late August. Since then, I’ve attempted it a total of 8 times. It’s a tough run, pretty much giving everything your body can give, for those grueling 6+ minutes. Now, it’s almost to the point where I dread it, ’cause it completely drains/saps me … AND, because I haven’t seen much improvement. Only 17 seconds separates my fastest & slowest times, but with two 6:30s, and two 6:31s outta the eight, that seems to be my average, so for the time being, I consider myself a 6:30 miler. I know I’m capable of PRing it at 6:10 – 6:15. It’s just a matter of nailing it. One day, before it kills me, lol!
Today I noticed this big-ass bruise. Thing’s the size of a football. Never really felt any pain when the car hit me, my ankle certainly did though. Now, it really showing where I got smacked by the car’s hood. And it’s starting to hurt – as a bruise hurts.
… damn danistrulytheman, it don’t look good … OUCH!!
… downloaded iOS 7 yesterday evening. Took 6 hours to complete, thankfully it went off without a hitch. Funny how a new operating system transforms your phone into a completely NEW one. Still up in the air about the 5s … unsure if I’ll upgrade or not even though I’m eligible. My 4 is in incredible shape, 16 GB, and has a gorgeous hand crafted after-market exotic wood back to boot. Unfortunately, the person I was gonna sell it to (at a discounted friend’s price no less, lol) def won’t be buying it. She never knew a good thing anyways … even when she had it! Her loss!
… after midnight – screenshot after downloading. Love the new look! Yep, still kept the same pic – ain’t no quitter … know a good thing when I have (had) it!!
