I'm STILL a self confessing, self professing know-it-all, or so I think!

my 10K!

WOW! I amazed myself! It’s only been 2 weeks of training, and today I ran my longest distance. And, I’m very pleased with my time; sub 48 minutes! I’ll be honest, when I resumed training after the winter layoff, I was discouraged during my first week back. I think (I know) I expected to jump right back in the saddle and continue where I left off. Today was definitely a step in that direction. The weather was near perfect – so happy to finally have Spring like temps. Oh … and, I wanted to run 10K acknowledging tomorrow’s Toronto Yonge Street 10K  … my 10k y’all!

112 113 Run

Today’s date. Love playing with numbers – changing the way you look at things.

My first run in five days, I’ve been fighting a cold/flu thingie, but I woke-up determined to give it a try. I really didn’t know what to expect, and my goal was to complete my 8K, not paying attention to my time (too much – sick or not, I’m still anal, lol), and about 3 kilometers in, felt I’d be able to accomplish it. Ten minutes later, I seriously began thinking of running a 10K, but, I would make that decision as I neared home. I always feels it’s better to think of it in advance, at least that way, I’m prepared mentally to continue. And, I did … another 47 minute 10K, almost identical to my run on November 12th. My 5K splits were equal – actually, I was 2 seconds faster on the backend. By all rights, I shouldn’t have been able to achieve this! I’m sick, missed so many days of training, yet I amaze myself. As I said in my previous post, if I were to achieve 47 minutes in an official 10K, I’d be very pleased. Today, I say it again!

Zippy 4K!

I needed it! I’d a rough go of late, with missed training and illness, it really has been a struggle. Today’s run was reconfirmation!

After my fast 4K accomplishment, jogging home at a relaxed, comfortable pace finishing up my running, was in order. Near the end, I was waved down by an old lady using a walker thingie with wheels. She was looking for an address, I offered help, but with her advanced age, and needing assistance walking … and more importantly knowing she’d have about 1 kilometer more to go pushing, supporting herself on that old-fogey stroller thingie, I asked, “how far can you go?” … “as far as I have to” was her speedy smiling reply. You go grandma, I thought, lol! And, not one to miss an opportunity, she took a moment to solicit me with some religious crap (pamphlet/literature). Naturally, I took it and thanked her kindly … I didn’t want her to think that her long life spent peddling fantasies were in vain!

map to heaven – just what I need, lol …
