long run!
Longest one to date – 14K … and just 3 weeks into training. Been reading lots, getting advice from runners wiser than me, and today took to heart slowing down, running farther! I even felt as if I wasn’t slowing down enough – next time I’ll try reigning myself in even more. I must say, I’ve never had such a GREAT GREAT run in a long time! I stumbled upon a path I wasn’t aware of, and being all alone, felt so quiet and peaceful, the sun shining in my face … I kept thinking, “I hope this path goes on forever, I ain’t getting off” … I swear, I woulda ran forever! It felt THAT good, I felt THAT good! I think it ended after 1 kilometer, so back to the sidewalks I went. I knew I’d be stopping as I neared my house, so NOW, I picked up my pace in anticipation … and for those few kilometers, running once again became running for time, and it became harder! So weird, it’s not even that much pace difference, but boy, do you feel it – sure makes a difference! And now, can’t help but think, today I ran 1/3 marathon … so invariably I extrapolate multiplying my time by three – plus tacking on 1 minute for the extra 200 meters, and I kinda like what I see. And I think, there’s still so much room (ok, a LITTLE room, lol) for improvement. I know marathons aren’t run on paper, they’re run on the streets … but, it sure is nice to think!
springing forward to 378!
… thanks Daylight Saving Time! But, now will miss my 369 – you’ve been replaced (temporarily, again, lol) … for the time being, lol!! 😛
4444!
I’ve been looking at my Running Records. My 2013 Running Records. At every record I set/accomplished occurred in 2013. And being a firm believer of setting goals, and the benefits gained chasing them … today – March 2 … I am determined to run a 10K in 44:44. And I will, believe me … I will ... fortyfourfortyfour here I come! Last year’s best time was 45:08. I REALLY REALLY wanted to run 45:00 (or a sub forty-five minutes)!
Missed it by that much … thanks Max!!
12/13/14
Great day! Numbers are great too, very important to me personally!
Enjoy the day, wherever you are!
112 113 Run
Today’s date. Love playing with numbers – changing the way you look at things.
My first run in five days, I’ve been fighting a cold/flu thingie, but I woke-up determined to give it a try. I really didn’t know what to expect, and my goal was to complete my 8K, not paying attention to my time (too much – sick or not, I’m still anal, lol), and about 3 kilometers in, felt I’d be able to accomplish it. Ten minutes later, I seriously began thinking of running a 10K, but, I would make that decision as I neared home. I always feels it’s better to think of it in advance, at least that way, I’m prepared mentally to continue. And, I did … another 47 minute 10K, almost identical to my run on November 12th. My 5K splits were equal – actually, I was 2 seconds faster on the backend. By all rights, I shouldn’t have been able to achieve this! I’m sick, missed so many days of training, yet I amaze myself. As I said in my previous post, if I were to achieve 47 minutes in an official 10K, I’d be very pleased. Today, I say it again!
$80
This has been repeating lately. On three separate occasions, and not just the number eighty, but in monetary terms too. AND, if I had to be more precise it’s an extra eighty dollars ALL three times. Weird eh? Correct post title should read; $80 extra 😯
