Fionn MacCool’s WagJagged!

… we WagJagged the shit outta the joint! Tiff signed up for the typical coupon rate – pay $10, get $20. ‘Cept she was asked to complete a survey (said, it wasn’t even really a survey, only a few questions) and would be credited $5 for doing so. Hello? Freebies for Tiff are a no-brainer, lol! And Fionn’s was tacking on an extra $5 worth of fare if you used the WagJag within the first four days it became available. We went day one, lol! Bottom line: $25 credit (for a measly $5) before we even set foot in their PaddyAss pub … AND with our luck o’ the Irish, it was a Thursday, just so happens, it’s $5 craft beers night (they also offer other day of the week specials, but nothing to match this one). Campagnolo Birthday Bash Blowout!!

Great, great restaurant on Dundas … had the best fucking time!! We ordered the WHOLE menu … minus 4 starters, and 1 main, lol!! After dinner, we walked up to College St. for gelato … was so pleasant, despite the humidity … the walk I mean, the gelato was through the mofo roof sublime too!! A few pics y’all!!

… BLOGGING AWARDS!! I’ve said it before, looks like I’m sayin’ it again … thanks, but no thanks to any/all of these silly, meaningless “things” that apparently many bloggers give way too much credence to … widget-ing your blogs with them as some sort of achievement?! Huh, really? Newsflash folks; it means nothing, absolutely nothing … THEY AIN’T REAL!! Receiving an Oscar® or a Grammy®, now those are awards, THOSE ARE REAL!! Along with ceremonies, speeches, trophies, and recognition from peers in the industry … and, as well given to deserving recipients with NO conditions or stipulations … you don’t receive one of these under the pretext you’ll make more movies/albums, lol … how goofy is that? … a chain letter, pyramid scheme “award-thingie” … here’s your award, now go pass it along, LOL!! Please people, no more nominations … I’m done with the politeness & pleasantries … I know who I am, and I can tell you with complete honesty & humbleness, danistrulytheman doesn’t need/want any of ya scrolling blogs looking at me to pawn off your phony-baloney – er, I mean legitimately nominate a deserving candidate as part of your acceptance of one of these prestigious (really, REALLY facetious) awards!! Thank you, hope it’s the end of all this (somehow doubt it – but SURE did feel good sayin’ it) … now, somebody get me a beer *belch*!!

Chimay Spéciale Cent Cinquante … it’s a limited edition Chimay, commemorating their 150th anniversary …. and it’s VERY hard to come by … my LCBO app has been working overtime checking for availability/locations. Picked up a couple of bottles the day it was released to the public (a mere 60 bottles for all of Ontario) … have a HUGE Chimay crush of late, if ya hadn’t noticed, lol!!

a day late, a dollar …

didn’t know what to use as a title, this will do. and for the first time ever, I’m blogging without editing, re-editing a million times. I promise (I think, lol). so don’t be expecting the usual falling off your chair as you read this either. stuff I write is falling off the chair funny, isn’t it, lol?! mistakes, punctuation, caps be damned. today was a helluva day, plans I had were cancelled … hate that word, rescheduled is better. Tiffany K and I were dressed ready to go, but with nowhere to go. perfect time to drive to Hamilton to the brand new Anchor Bar that opened yesterday … read yesterday’s blog y’all. normally when I post pics/stories I embellish, cover faults, etc. focusing on only the good aspects … I’m not a reviewer after all, I like things to be perfect (or appear to be). today, I’m afraid I can’t, I have mixed feelings about it all. I can’t remember the last time I had Anchor wings in Buffalo, it’s been that long. fifteen years for sure, probably twenty. I remember they were the pinnacle, the best … today they were good, very good but not the best. Tiff immediately said, “Duff’s” are better. she read my mind, they are. no matter – good is still good. it was more about the beautiful city of Hamilton that depressed me, and I felt bad, I still do as I write this. we made the mistake (mistake because it exposed me to things I was unaware of) of walking out the back of the restaurant, the exit that leads into the mall. Tiff said, “it’s like the seventies in here”. as many stores that were open, an equal number weren’t. for lease signs abounded, the mall was poorly lit, very dark and unwelcoming … I could go on, I won’t. was blown away with the depressed state of it all. guess what at the time was my highlight of the day, so much that I took a moment and snapped a pic … free parking on a Saturday, downtown Hamilton, on King Street … was in fact a harbinger of Hamilton’s economic state. the pics.

baked chili

… my favourite dish/way of utilizing leftover chili (especially on a cold, blustery, wintry day) … well, maybe not … LOVE chili dogs too … chili cheese fries, spaghetti chilignese (just made that shit up, so don’t be pilfering … at least give credit where it’s due if ya do) are motherfucking awesome as well … shit, now I’m confused/over-thinking it, lol. This was day five of the chili (still have enough for day six, AND I did freeze some, so I can enjoy those chili dogs for a quick meal). In my Le Creuset stoneware I layered basmati rice (leftover too, of course … be sure to add extra water/liquid as it tends to greedily sop up moisture) and an equal layer of the chili, with a generous layer of cheddar topping it all. Bake it hot and long to really get the cheese bubbling, and with blackened little crispy bits beginning to form around the edge … this means you’re done. A couple of pics y’all. Know it’s hard to visualize (individual) portion-wise, but trust me they’re perfect … served in my newly and proudly purchased terra-cotta chili/soup bowls handmade in Portugal. Sliced & spatula-ed, sour creamed & served … alongside a FROSTY (today at least, lol) tall cool one … lighten up baby I’m in love with you!!

if it’s Tuesday this must be Buffalo Wild Wings

… was extremely unexpected, the phone call … the invite. And who am I to turn down 1/2 price anything, let alone 1/2 price wings. Ordered 20 wild … but due to a bit of a delay getting danistrulythethirstyman his 2nd Creemore, was surprisingly comped 5 wings. Everyone was extremely apologetic (manager walked over for a personal apology … with my fingers & face all red-hot sauced, and my mouth full – munching on wings … trying my best to say thanks for the gesture, but more importantly wanting to shoo him away … please, don’t ever approach me while I’m in that condition, lol) and honestly wasn’t even creating a fuss for that beer either … not like I normally can, lol … was them that created all the fuss ’bout me sitting there all empty-glassed. Some pics to share … wanted to include gracious waitress but she was so shy … coulda swore she was Polish (with her thick accent, and being in these neck of the woods), but turns out Agi is a sweet little paprikash from Budapest!!
