I’ve been looking at my Running Records. My 2013 Running Records. At every record I set/accomplished occurred in 2013. And being a firm believer of setting goals, and the benefits gained chasing them … today – March 2 … I am determined to run a 10K in 44:44. And I will, believe me … I will ... fortyfourfortyfour here I come! Last year’s best time was 45:08. I REALLY REALLY wanted to run 45:00 (or a sub forty-five minutes)!
a beginning perhaps? the end, the start of something new? i dunno, trying to figure it all out re: my 1234th post, which also coincides (almost) with 4321 (years/months/days/hours – my time blogging). a hidden meaning, a hidden message? 4321 1234 … ready or not? here i come …
Burger joint with a gazillion burgers! Gourmet burgers too! Makes your head spin trying to pick that perfect one, so many mouthwatering choices. I know I’ve been lazy lately w/ pics, and w/ food blogging. Not that I haven’t been going to lotsa fun places, I have … just been lazy w/ the pics & bloggin’ ’bout it! And to prove my laziness, this was two week-ends ago, on The Danforth – 888 Danforth – love that lucky number!!
Leaside Burger – upgraded … lean ground Elk …
a side of fries and the obligatory gravy …
Sam Adams AND the Sam Adams glass too – nice touch …
My first run in over a week! Eight days exactly … last run was Sept. 28th … I never miss more than one day (ok, maybe missed two consecutive days once or twice, but that’s it), so to be outta running commission so long tells ya how I felt. I’m still on antibiotics, and I have to go back next week for my “medical procedure” (is all I’m gonna say ’bout that), and I’ve been feeling so dragged down, so faint, so tired – now, I’m not sure if it’s the infection, or all these meds making me weak? I didn’t know what to expect today, and when I started running, after only 100m my legs felt like rubber, but I persisted. Imagine my surprise, hearing my 5:00 minute audio cue, and I was further along my route than 99% of my previous first calls! And my 2K time was my 3rd fastest ever! Don’t misunderstand, I was still weak … truth be told, I was reaching into my pocket, fumbling with my phone, and inadvertently hit stop on RunKeeper – I was planning on at least reaching the 3K mark before I stopped, so I was a bit premature, lol. Good enough!
I stood there, admiring my accomplishment (I’m still in awe, when taking everything into consideration. Plus it was very humid – my glasses were fogged up, lol). I then turned around, and jogged home – comfortably, but at a steady. A nice to be back 5K run … and it was plenty … oh, and on top of everything – I had a bird in the oven … a practice Thanksgiving turkey, and I didn’t want to be out too long ‘ncase it needed tending to, lol!
I’ve been hittin’ the dueces hard lately … and now five in a row … holy-frickin-mike-n-moly … gimme a break, ain’t no way it’s a coinkidink … it’s gotta mean somethin’! I’ll figure it out … and when I do, I’ll get back to ya …
Not that July, or August weren’t filled with good runs – they were. Seems like in September, I kicked it up a notch, and was particularly good. I set five PRs during the month … all within a nineteen day span! Plenty chuffed with myself!
… have been making incremental progress! I’m happy where I’m at – 6:23 … but now I’d love to lower my time to 6:10 – 6:15 … THEN, I’d REALLY be happy where I’m at, lol!
Today’s effort came on the heels (a mere eight minutes later) of another super-quick, sub 18 minutes 4K, a great run by its own right. So all things considered, another awesome day of running … am chuffed as fuck again!!
Wow, I amazed myself. Lord knows I needed a great day, my endurance and pace have been suffering lately. And my 4K is tough for me to improve upon, since my old time was fast, but I bettered it by 5 seconds. AND THEN, fifteen minutes later … I surprised myself lowering my mile to 6:31 (an 8 second improvement). I still can’t believe I had enough left in the tank after those grueling, energy sapping four kilometers?! Oh, and am also surprised since it’s very humid (feels like 30°), and the air feels so thick, making breathing difficult. Like I said, wow … chuffed again!
Arrogant Americans! OK, I posted/pleaded/even asked politely in a previous post. Maybe I’m reading WAY too many running blogs lately, lol. But, leave it to the US bloggers to bugger up how they did in a 5K, a 10K with their conversions to miles. WHY WHY WHY???
… it’s completely unnecessary … please, don’t do that. I love what you have to say, then you spoil/ruin it … forcing me to stop reading and moving on to other blogs. Just a smartrunningman offering an observation! 💡
My 4K run was only 13 seconds off my PR. My splits were consistent – strong and steady. And, I wasn’t done yet … I also duplicated yesterday’s mile run to the second. Well, it was, until RunKeeper decided to tack on an extra second while making its final adjustment. Oh well, lol!
