Sorry Tiff, no Tiffany today … was content on leaving empty-handed, but had to try on some pants, and when the price-tag on the Varvatos trousers burned a whole in my eyes – but not in my wallet ($400 – God they were gorgeous) … I was happy to find my beloved 527’s on sale for $35 (reduced from $88) and I snagged this cool Fossil belt too feeling all good and proud of myself, lol!!

Saturday, June 15! As I’ve posted before, my 8K run is a circuitous route, and the halfway point falls beautifully (and perfectly) at a center of sorts. Don’t want to be too descriptive, divulging anything … there’s many community activities/events held here throughout the year … and Saturday morning during the summer months, it’s bustling. Today, I knew beforehand (least, it’s what I planned, sometimes my body doesn’t co-operate – tells me differently), I was going to run hard for 4K and hopefully set a solid time, then stop, walk around, see what was going on … taking pics of today’s fun. There was obstacle courses/races being set-up for little kids to participate. Later on, there was a FREE BBQ planned … like I said, very strong community minded participation indeed. What I didn’t realize (at first anyways – halfway through, I knew I was onto a great time) was that I would stop the RunKeeper clock in 18:18 … my fastest 4K split EVER! And afterwards on the second half of my run, I was planning on taking it relatively easy, was hoping to be home in 20 minutes … but after my first one kilometer interval, was extremely surprised that I was running faster than I thought (my audio cue had me at a whopping 1.08 kilometers after 5 minutes), in fact it was equal to the pace to my eighteen-eighteen time. Plan B: The wheels in my head are turning … now, suddenly I’m on a mission to try my best to match that time … after the second interval, I knew I wasn’t quite going to make it, but it STILL didn’t stop me from continuing trying … and I came home in 18:50 … still very respectable – and combined, puts me at just over 37 minutes for the complete run … not too shabby, eh?
… everything’s falling into place! Still need y’all to muster positive energy and continue channeling it, sending it my way … let’s keep the yin-yang railcar rollin’ …
… of course I ain’t sayin’ who … and at first inserted REALLY REALLY into my title, but that’s not true. In truth, you’re an irritant at most, and deep down I REALLY REALLY pity you – knew I’d get ’em in, lol. Not only am I NOT dreading it, I’m embracing it!! It’s to the point where recently I’m taunting/daring/wanting anyone & everyone to ask me my age … go ahead, lol! I haven’t felt as healthy in my life, I feel vibrant & strong, got plenty spring chicken zip in my step and not a single person I know who turned fifty could say the same, nor did they indicate being excited ’bout it either … in fact, I’ll match up my 50 year-old Ken-Ken playing, 8K running, BBQ-ing/grilling, Vitamixing skinny-ass against the lot of you!! And yes, I’m being premature by a month with my 50giddiness … like I said, I have zip, lol!

… consecutive days I should add, 8K everyday! Not to mention the occasional nightly 3-4K walks with Tiffany K … not even counting those. That was gonna be my blog entry, the days and distance … but something remarkable happened on the 25th day, I recorded my best time ever. And not by a bit, by a lot, I obliterated my previous best (39 minutes) by a whopping 1 minute and 18 seconds! Gonna email my personal trainer and tell him that’s all I’ve got to give and not to expect anymore (private joke, lol)! To put it in perspective, my single best 1K split was 4:42 … today I ran the whole 8K AVERAGING 4:42 … I know, insane, eh? Friday Morning Run June 7, 2013 RunKeeper stats y’all!!
… ok, ok, MAYBE not numero uno, but def in contention … we’ve (I, I folks, lol) made many a great burger through the years, this ranks right at the top. It’s Whole Foodsultimate burger … they have a gazillion to choose from, and I was being lazy (and running late), so I went old school basic (good quality beef, with 80/20 lean/fat ratio – minimum) and dressed it up myself … cremini mushrooms, jalapeño jack cheese, vidalia onion … w/ my homemade bomber sauce (low-fat mayo, mustard, bbq sauce, horseradish) … check out the pics, y’all!

Boy, so much is happening, trying many different things, so much I wanna say about it all, but I know my laziness won’t allow that, lol! First thing I will say is that when I woke-up, I had a lightbulb moment … since we went out and bought protein powder (more Tiff’s thing at the time than mine), and listening to her educate me on protein … decided I was gonna have a protein smoothie/shake BEFORE my run … prior to that, I woke up had a glass of water, a cup of joe and was out the door, on my way (I know, how fucking retarded, eh, lol?), and it musta worked, came home 8K later in a record 39 minutes … 39:00 EXACTLY … so I was happy about that, but not only that, spent lots of time learning more about protein powders (so much out there folks, it’ll make your head spin), and quickly joined the mindset of those who eschew powders (with ingredients you can’t pronounce), and instead prefer raw hemp seeds as an alternative … I LOVE that thought, all natural (organic too), and ONLY one ingredient, AND I know my Vitamix will pulverize the shit outta it when making smoothies – so excited for tomorrow’s run, lol … AND, Tiff on her Harley-health-kick, had me buy edamame (dry roasted, for snacks) as well … like I said, trying new shit … lol, had to laugh as I was putting it into my basket, no fucking way she’s wasabi-ing it … them’s for me, LOL!!
… PLEASE!! Twenty days straight now for those keeping track … 160km (+2) = 162 f’nK total y’all!! I need a break, my body is CRYING/PLEADING/BEGGING for one … I even promised myself I wouldn’t get-up-and-giddy-up tomorrow morning … but something tells me, that’s a promise I won’t keep … on the bright side, despite my sore, poor aching body, equalled my best ever 4K time this morning … rundanrun …
